Technology Manufacturer Case Study

where engineering and empathy converge

“This engagement gave us a renewed appreciation for folks who put their heads down and work hard without making too much of a fuss about it. This client, quite candidly, was the real deal.”

Here’s a story about one of our recent clients: a technology manufacturer that designs and builds variable frequency drives for the oil and gas industry. Everything they make - hardware and software - is engineered for the harsh demands of the field. As a result, their work has not only changed the economics of fracking but also helped propel the United States closer to energy independence.

At its essence, this client is an innovation company. When their products and ideas become the latest status quo, they have to refocus their effort on finding a better way yet again. Yet as their success hastens their rapid growth, how do they preserve the facets of their culture that enable them to continuously innovate with an eye for tomorrow; while satisfying the overwhelming demand for their products today?

To answer those questions, we utilized a series of innovation research techniques to immerse ourselves in the organization. The objective was to study the relationship between culture and performance for not only internal branding and talent acquisition/retention purposes (in collaboration with their marketing firm), but to define what must be protected as the client entered a period of rapid growth.
